Analysis and Computation with Strati ed Fluid Models

چکیده
Vertical averaging of the three dimensional incompressible Euler equations leads to several reduced dimension models of ow over topography, including the one-layer and two-layer classic shallow water equations, and the one-layer and two-layer nonhydrostatic Green-Naghdi equations. These equations are derived and their well-posedness is discussed. Several implicit and explicit nite diierence approximations of both the shallow water and Green-Naghdi models are presented, but for Green-Naghdi these are obtained using automatic code generation software. Numerical results are given in both well-posed and ill-posed regimes and compared with computations obtained by others.

Strati ̄cation in Multivariate Modeling
In this note we illustrate strati ̄ed complex sampling with several simulation studies implemented in Mplus 3.1 and discuss the e®ect of strati ̄cation on parameter and variance estimation and on log-likelihood chi-square testing. We compare the results obtained by Mplus with those obtained by SUDAAN on linear and logistic regression models.
متن کاملSmoothing Spline Models for the Analysis of Nested and Crossed Samples of Curves
We introduce a class of models for an additive decomposition of groups of curves strati ed by crossed and nested factors, generalizing smoothing splines to such samples by associating them with a corresponding mixed e ects model. The models are also useful for imputation of missing data and exploratory analysis of variance. We prove that the best linear unbiased predictors (BLUP) from the exten...

We consider the problem of nding models for logic programs P via xed points of immediate consequence operators TP Certain extensions of syntax invalidate the classical approach adopted in the case of de nite programs using iterates of TP and the Knaster Tarski theorem We discuss alternatives to the use of this theorem based on elementary notions from topological dynamics This leads us to consid...
متن کاملParametric studies on thermally strati®ed chilled water storage systems
An analysis of the strati®cation decay in thermally strati®ed vertical cylindrical cool storage systems is presented using a one dimensional conjugate heat conduction model. The degree of thermal strati®cation depends upon the length to diameter ratio, wall thickness to length ratio, the thermo-physical properties of the material of the storage tank, the type and thickness of the insulation and...
متن کاملReactive, Generative and Strati ed Models of Probabilistic Processes
We introduce three models of probabilistic processes, namely, reactive, generative and strati ed. These models are investigated within the context of PCCS, an extension of Milner's SCCS in which each summand of a process summation expression is guarded by a probability and the sum of these probabilities is 1. For each model we present a structural operational semantics of PCCS and a notion of b...
